The historical bottegas (shops)
In the alleys there are shops and “bottegas” where time has passed without showing any signs.
A stone’s throw from the Porto Antico area one finds the ancient barber’s shop of Giacalone in Vicolo Caprettari. The furnishings are original from 1922. White tiles, colourful mirrors and wrought iron will take you back to the Art Deco period.
Not far from the cathedral, in Via Soziglia, you’ll find the ancient company “Pietro Romanengo fu Stefano”.The shop was opened in 1814 and has remained unchanged, with the counters in marble and precious wood. The shop windows are a galaxy of chocolates, candied fruit, sugared almonds and jams. All the products are handmade according to traditional recipes.
