Camogli and San Fruttuoso

The Portofino promontory is a real jewel just a few kilometres from Genoa. One its coastline there are some of the most beautiful fishing villages in Liguria.

In Camogli you can admire one of the most characteristic sets of buildings in the whole region. The houses are built one next to the other and some stretch as high as 7 floors. Their multi-coloured façades form a single lively background to the seaside promenade. In the little harbour the boats of the fishermen are moored. From the pier the view stretches along the coast, as far as Genoa.

Not far away there is San Fruttuoso. The small inlet that it overlooks can only be reached by sea or on foot. From the little beach there rise a handful of houses and an abbey built starting from the 11th century. At the bottom of the bay is anchored the statue of Cristo degli Abissi. This blessing figure is a classical site for scuba divers.
